As part of ongoing actions to streamline its signalling solutions, Alstom Transport has created a signalling solution & development centre in Madrid which will coordinate projects and develop solutions exclusively for Alstom’s global tramway business worldwide.
Alstom’s tramway signalling and ERTMS signalling business in Spain currently accounts for over 200 employees in charge of national and international projects for all types of rolling stock. The new centre, which will focus exclusively on tramway projects, will reinforce the competitiveness of Alstom’s tramway signalling offer for trams by providing support for the company’s regional tramway signalling activities in the pre-tendering stage, identifying key partners and suppliers, defining technical solutions, and acting as a design authority in projects and tenders.
“Our international focus, and our excellent track record for implementing important tramway signalling projects at national and international level, will guarantee our strong support for all future tramway projects worldwide,” says Ignacio Rodriguez, Transport Information Solutions Managing Director for Spain and Portugal.
Projects successfully developed to date by Alstom’s tramway signalling and ERTMS business in Spain include the supply of Spain’s largest interlocking system at Chamartin station in Madrid, the development of dual-gauge ERTMS signalling in collaboration with ADIF , and the implementation of Spain’s first ERTMS Level 2 system without Level 1 support. Alstom’s Spanish signalling teams have participated in numerous international tramway projects, including the development of the ERTMS solution for a 328 km corridor between the cities of Esxkisehir and Balikesir in Turkey.
